New on Crime Guy and Tennessee Vibes

When I started moving all my writing over to this new site in March, it had no particular direction, not even a name. All I wanted was to bring together all my articles since I started on Medium in 2015. I had stuff there, some in an archive of The Z Review from 2017/18 plus my new writing on Crime Guy, my main Substack. I wanted a home for my nonfiction work that was owned and managed by me instead of some faceless tech bro.

It was only after starting this project that my new music Substack, Tennessee Vibes, winked into existence, and quite by accident. I have since signed up to write several music books, starting in 2027 with Fleetwood Mac, a two-volume history of the band to coincide with their 60th anniversary.

I always wanted to get back into audio content, and to do it in a way which did not feel like a weekly grind. With my co-conspirators, and principal of these Geraldine Comiskey on Crime Guy and Cyrena Wages over on the Vibes, I have found a way to do that. Both shows are linked below and are available on Spotify as well as Substack.

As autumn arrives, the real new year for all sane people, there might be a little less happening on my social profiles to make space for the main work. British Gangs Volume 2 is almost ready to send to the publisher, which means it is full steam ahead on Fleetwood Mac. Crime Guy and Tennessee Vibes also continue on Substack, with a focus on quality over quantity. All of my premium content is free for at least six months after publication.

Hopefully this article has signposted you to the places which suit your own favorite things. I believe there is only one person (me) who is likely to love both Americana and roots music and true crime as much as I do, but if you enjoy both of these things, all the better!
